Medical Assistant – Cognitive Screening & Assessment Support
Hybrid Role | Dementia & Cognitive Care | Growing Specialty Practice
A cognition-focused medical practice working to close the gap in dementia diagnosis and care. We partner with primary care physicians to support patients with suspected cognitive impairment, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and dementia.
We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant with strong primary care experience with seniors to support our cognitive screening and assessment process across partner practices.
This role includes both in-clinic and remote responsibilities.
Position Summary
The Care Coordinator supports cognitive screening workflows by administering digital assessments, preparing patients for cognitive visits, managing documentation, and coordinating insurance authorization processes. This role is essential in ensuring patients are identified, evaluated, and supported in a timely and compassionate manner.
Responsibilities
- Cognitive Screening & Assessment: Administer digital cognitive screening tools in clinic and remotely
- Patient intake & Appointment Support: Manage scheduling for cognition-focused appointments, preparing charts and gathering relevant patient information
- Documentation & Systems Management: Accurately document screening results in EMR systems and maintaining patient tracking in customized CRM platform
- Prior Authorization Support: Initiate and manage prior authorization requests for diagnostic testing and referrals
- Patient & Family Communication: Communicate clearly and compassionately with senior patients and their care partners
Qualifications
- Active Medical Assistant credential (CMA, RMA, or CCMA required)
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously
- Prior authorization experience
Work Environment & Schedule
- Provide scheduled services in-clinic with some remote work from home
- Assigned to one or more partner practices
