Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to join BrainCheck’s finance team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring smooth and accurate financial operations. You will handle core accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and expense management, while contributing to the financial health and growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices, manage payments, and monitor outstanding accounts.
- Generate invoices for customers and oversee collections and payment applications.
Payroll Processing:
- Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure the payroll system is updated with the latest information.
- Assist with preparation or review of variable compensation amounts.
- Reconcile the payroll expense and liability accounts.
Expense Management:
- Review and process employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies.
Financial Data & Reporting:
- Support outside accounting service on month-end close tasks.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records for audits, tax reporting, and company compliance.
- Support continuous process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a technology start-up.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Quickbooks.
- Experience with Gusto, Bill.com, Expensify and Recurly, a plus.
- Strong Excel skills.
Soft Skills:
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally with teams.
